Hey loves! We hope you had an amazing weekend out there. Did you manage to take time to practice quilting? You know that this is the only way to get better and better at this technique. Still don’t have a block that inspires you? The Honeymoon Quilt Block is a fun star block to sew together and it is easier than you might think. It’s the most amazing block you can make quickly.

And the coolest thing about the blocks is the amount of pieces we develop from this one. Want a quilt for your room? Join several quilt blocks until you have the desired size. To complement the decor, you can make a beautiful cushion cover with the same pattern. For a table runner you won’t need as many blocks, but it also looks very nice.

With a little creativity, if you’ve been sewing for some time, several ideals will emerge. Both for the creation of new pieces and for the combination of colors and prints. With only half square triangles, hourglass units, and squares, it goes together quickly. This quilt block has a final size of 12″. It’s not a very big block, so you won’t need a lot of fabric. If you already have some scraps left over from other projects, we’ll reuse this piece too.

To make a larger block quilt, we recommend you to do the first one following the same fears. Then you can adapt it to what you need. The materials are no different from those needed for other patterns. Sewing machine, fabric, thread, scissors, ribbon metric, pins and markers. To make the same pattern, here are the fabrics, prints, colors that were used:

  • Light/White: 2 – 5.5″ squares, 4 – 3″ squares, and 4 – 2.5″ squares;
  • Medium 1/Floral: 1 – 4.5″ square and 4 – 2.5″ square;
  • Medium 2/Yellow: 4 – 3″ squares;
  • Dark/Triangles: 2 – 5.5″ squares.

Nothing better than following a well-described step-by-step and it’s available in Fabric 406. Shall we start quilting? If you have any doubts, let us know in the comments. We will be very happy to share this experience with you.
